Demo competitions

  • The entries have to be delivered as an archive or as a single executable
  • To avoid issues with the projector the maximum resolution is 1920x1080
  • Installation routines are forbidden. Unpacking your contribution into a directory and starting the executable have to be the only things necessary to get your production to work
  • All custom libraries have to be provided with your production and they have to reside in the same directory
  • Any custom libraries count into the filesize limit!
  • Pressing either the right mouse button or ESC has to end the demo instantly
  • Windows PC entries must run under Windows 8.1 64bit and the lastest DirectX version available
  • If you are displaying a selector at startup please make sure that it is set to sensible defaults. There should be no interaction required other than pressing the start-button
  • IMPORTANT: D3DX won't be available. Add ALL DLLs to your archive, especially d3dx9_43.dll, d3dCompile_43.dll, msvcr*.dll, msvcp*.dll, so your demo can be watched on a freshly installed Windows 8.1 machine. For Windows Intros, these files will not be count into the filesize. At least not this year :-)

Combined Oldskool

  • Runtime limit: 10 minutes
  • Maximum size 16MB (16777216 bytes) archived including all files (readme etc.)

Wild/Animation

The Wild Competition is meant mostly for animations/videos that don't fit into another category. Due to certain arguments during the last years we herewith explicitly warn you that we will make use of our right to kick "particularly abstract" contributions (in other words: boring/repetitive) out of the compo or won't show them in full length.

  • Max. running time: 10 minutes (exceptional good stuff will be shown in full length)
  • Anything except mostly ripped stuff allowed
  • Please, hand in as widely spread videoformat (h.264)
  • For spreading purposes you should include a version encoded with a lower bitrate
  • All contributions for the music, graphics and videocontent compos will be released under a Creative Commons Licence. Look here for more information!

What, where and when

Under Construction was the last demoparty of 2016. It took place from December 27th to 29th in Gernsheim, Germany.
